FORT WORTH _ A pair of Vaqueros will enjoy the opportunity to showcase their talent this weekend at the NPSL national player combine.
Fort Worth defender Zack Stavrou and forward Bobby Edet were selected as two of the 16 players to represent the Southern Region, which runs from Texas to Florida.
In all, 68 players from across the country were selected to participate in Kissimmee, Fla., for training and matches.
The combine highlights players 24 and younger in the hopes of helping them gain exposure to coaches and scouts from the professional divisions higher than the NPSL.
General manager Tobias Xavier Lopez said the club pushes every year to get as many of the Vaqueros as are eligible into the combine.
“One of the founding principles of the Vaqueros is to provide an opportunity for our boys to get to the next level,” Lopez said. “We hope Bobby and Zack enjoy the weekend but more importantly we hope they impress the scouts and coaches.”
