FORT WORTH _ Tigres _ the name alone is recognizable in the soccer world especially throughout Mexico and the United States.
The Vaqueros are pleased to announce the popular Mexican club will be sending Tigres UANL Premier (its reserve side) to face Fort Worth’s minor league soccer team at 7:30 p.m. May 30 at Farrington Field in an international friendly.
Tigres UANL is the defending Liga MX Champion and one of the most successful teams in Liga MX in recent years. Their Reserve team will play two games in North Texas during this Summer Tour.
“We are thrilled to work with FC Global to promote this match against a highly respected and popular club such as Tigres,” Vaqueros general manager Tobias Xavier Lopez said. “This marks the fifth international opponent we have faced in club history and features a historic highlight to this our fifth season.”
Edgar Albo of Tigres UANL added, "We are excited at the opportunity of playing Fort Worth Vaqueros, not only because of their level of play but because of the spirit they bring to the city of Fort Worth. For our Tigres youth players, playing against international teams is always important for their development, as they’ll seek to adapt a different style of play and show their character on the field . Let this friendly be a 'fiesta de futbol' in the city of Fort Worth."
The international exhibition is included in the 2018 season seat holder package. Season Seats are on sale for $100 Adult & $75 Youth; includes a FREE Puma Vaqueros Jersey, admission to all games at Farrington Field and 4 Bonus Tickets to bring friends to NPSL regular season games. Additionally, all Fort Worth ISD students, faculty and administrators receive free admission with a FWISD identification card. Single game tickets are available for $10 at THE GEAR SHOP
“The Summer of Soccer is here and we could not think of a better event to celebrate the end of a great FWISD school year and kickoff the summer before the World Cup than hosting the first international friendly at Farrington Field,” Vaqueros owner Michael Hitchcock continued. “It's going to be a great night of soccer for the Vaqueros family and Tigres fans in the City of Fort Worth.”
The Vaqueros previously played international opponents RKU (Japan), the El Salvador u-23 national team, Monterrey Rayados u-23 (Mexico) and Santos Laguna u-23 (Mexico).
On this Summer Tour, Tigres UANL Premier will also play Texas United, a PDL team in Grand Prairie.
